UNIWALL INSULATED PANELS

A. SCOPE OF WORK - Contract drawings indicate the extent and general details of the insulated wall system. All products shall be as manufactured by United Steel Deck, Inc., South Plainfield, NJ. To be considered equal, other products must be approved in writing by the Architect prior to bid date. Provide a complete system meeting the following criteria.

B. MATERIALS
- 1. Interior Liner Panel - End joints (if required) shall occur over girts.
- Profiles:
- (a) L224 (24" wide x 2" deep) with interlocking ribs at the side joint and with mirror ribs at 6" on center in the bottom flat.
- (b) CFA-LP (12" wide x 1 1/2" deep) with interlocking side joints and flushing interior surface.
- (c) SS18 (18" wide x 2 5/16" deep) with overlapping side joint and with 2 minor ribs in bottom flat.
- Specifications:
- (a) No _ Manufacturer’ Standard Gage conforming to ASTM A653 SQ 33, coating designation G90. Designed in accordance with AISI Cold Formed Steel Design Manual.
- (b) _" thick aluminum alloy A3004-H-14 ALCLAD.
Finish:
- (a) Unpainted (specify if panel will be field painted)
- (b) .7 mil Stone White Polyester.
- 2. Insulation - shall be glass fiber batts with maximum “K” factor of .24. Thickness to be installed in the liner shall be 2" in (a) or 1 1/2" in (b) or 2 1/2" in (c) providing a “U” of (.10 or .13 or .09) BTU/HR/FT2/°F.
- 3. Subgirts - shall be hat or zee shape sections of min 18 gage steel with a G90 coating designation.
- 4. Exterior Panels shall be of sufficient length to minimize horizontal joints.**

- Specifications: Same options as interior liner panel.
- Finish:
- The painted exposed surface of the exterior panels shall be:
- (a) Unicoat #1000 - Siliconized Polyester (ref. pg. 3).
- (b) Unicoat #2000 - Fluoropolymer (ref. pg. 3)
- (c) Unicoat #3000 - Plastisol (contact USD sales representative).
- (d) Unpainted - (Specify if panel will be field painted).
- Color:
- (a) Shall be selected from USD standard colors (ref. pg. 3).
- (b) Shall be selected by Architect (contact USD for limitations).
- Treatment: The surface shall be (embossed - contact USD for limitations - or unembossed).
- 5. Flashing - Flashings attached to metal wall panels shall be the Same gage and finish as the panels.
- 6. Closure - EPDM profile closures shall be provided to match fluted panels and as shown on drawings. Provide the necessary adhesive.
- 7. Fasteners - Provide fasteners compatible with the base material and the environment. Provide quantity, size, and the type for proper erection and to meet performance criteria. Color of exposed fasteners shall match the adjacent material.
- C. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- 1. The completely assembled wall panel system shall withstand a uniform (positive or negative) load of _ PSF with major rib deflection not to exceed L/180.
- 2. The completely assembled wall panel system shall have an over all “U” value in still air of _ (ref. section B2).
- 3. Air infiltration rate shall not exceed .06 CFM/FT2 of wall area at a pressure difference of 1.57 PSF (in accordance with the recommendations of AAMA 501-83).
- 4. Acoustical panel assemblies shall have a NCR of _. System shall have a STC rating of _. (ref. pg. 12).
- 5. Explosion venting wall system shall be designed to release at a pressure of _ PSF. The fasteners shall be listed in the Factory Mutual Approval Guide. (ref. pg. 12).
- 6. Fire rated walls shall be provided at the indicated locations. The system shall be listed in the UL Fire Resistance Directory . The non load bearing rating shall be _ hrs. when exposed to fire from (either or exterior only or inferior only) side. (ref. pg. 12).
- D. ERECTION
- 1. The erector shall examine the alignment of the structural steel. In the event of any discrepancies, notify the Architect. Do not proceed until alignment conforms to (section 7 of the AISC Code of Standard Practice or the contract documents).
- 2. Unload and store panels and accessories in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and at the assigned locations.
- 3. Erection shall be in strict accordance with approved shop drawings.
- 4. Coordinate installation with the work of other trades.
- 5. Install panels, trim, and fasteners so that they are plumb, level, and straight to be consistent with performance requirements.
- 6. Install caulking in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to provide a weather tight installation.
- 7. Field cutting of panels and trim shall be done in a workmanlike manner and as shown on drawings.
- E. CLEANING AND PROTECTION
- 1. Dispose of excess materials, offal, and debris in accordance with contract documents.
- 2. Remove drill shavings. Clean exposed surfaces of all dirt that results from panel installation and that will not be naturally flushed.
- 3. Protect installed panels against damage during construction.
- 4. Touch up minor scratches with manufacturer’s standard paint.
- F. DISSIMILAR MATERIALS - Separate metals from incompatible metals or corrosive substrates by coating concealed surfaces or applying isolation tape at the points of contact. Factory applied baked finish and/or G90 galvanize coating shall be considered adequate protection between steel and aluminum.
- G. SHOP DRAWING - Prepare and submit for approval field erection drawings showing: the complete panel layout, panel profiles and design thicknesses, installation details, flashing details, fastener and sealant schedules. Do not proceed with fabrication until receipt of approved prints.

ROOF PANELS

A. Scope of Work - Contract drawings indicate the extent and general details of the metal roof system. All products shall be as manufactured by United Steel Deck, Inc., South Plainfield, NJ. To be considered equal, other products must be approved in writing by the Architect prior to bid date. Provide a complete system meeting the following criteria.

- 1. Exterior Panels - shall be of sufficient length to minimize horizontal joints.

The painted exposed surface of the exterior panels shall be:
- (a) Unicoat #1000 - Siliconized Polyester (ref. pg. 3).

- 3. Flashing - Flashings attached to metal wall panels shall be the same gage and finish as the panels.
- 4. Closure - EPDM profile closures shall be provided to match fluted panels and as shown on drawings. Provide the necessary adhesive and sealants.
- 5. Fasteners - Provide fasteners compatible with the base material, the insulation, and the environment. Provide quantity, size, and type for proper erection and to meet performance criteria. Color of exposed fasteners shall match the adjacent material. Pop rivets shall not be used on exposed roofs.
- C. Performance Standards
- 1. The completely assembled panel system shall withstand a uniform (positive or negative) wind load of _ PSF with major rib deflection not to exceed L/180.
- 2. The completely assembled panel system shall withstand a uniform live load of _ PSF with the major rib deflection not to exceed (L/240 or L/180).
- 3. The panel shall withstand a 200 pound concentrated construction load applied in accordance with Steel Deck Institute recommendations.
- 4. Air infiltration rate shall not exceed .06 CFM/FT2 of roof area at a pressure difference of 1.57 PSF (in accordance with the recommendations of AAMA 501-83).
- D. Erection
- 1. The erector shall examine the alignment of the structural steel. In the event of any discrepancies, notify the Architect. Do no proceed until alignment conforms to (section 7 of the AISC Code of Standard Practice or the contract documents).
- 2. Unload and store panels and accessories in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and at the assigned locations.

- 5. Install panels, trim, and fasteners so that they are level and straight to be consistent with performance requirements.
- 6. Lap panels and trim and install caulking in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to provide a weather tight installation.
- 7. Field cutting of panels and trim shall be done in a workmanlike manner and as shown on drawings.
- 8. Any “stripped” fasteners shall be replaced with oversized fasteners.
- E. Cleaning and Protection
